National Shows add to the local art scene

Jean with mosaic flag

I finally got down to Dennis, MA to take in the We the People exhibit at the Cape Cod Museum of Art.  I was fortunate to have my Divided States of Insanity mosaic flag juried into this national show.  The call for art asked artists to interpret these words from the Preamble to the US Constitution in today’s context.  Interpretations included many media and highlighted issues of race, immigration, homelessness, civil disobedience, and the current president among others.  Attached are photos of some of my favorites. The exhibit runs through June 9, 2019 if you happen to be down the Cape for the Memorial Day Weekend.

Also, opening May 23, 2019 at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown MA is the Please Touch the Art exhibition, a multi-sensory experience created to stimulate senses beyond just seeing. 52 pieces in the exhibit hope to activate sight, touch, sound, and smell senses for visitors. Please Touch the Art invites sighted and visually impaired visitors to use touch to experience the art. My contribution to the exhibit is my Go Fish mosaic.

In addition to print guides, braille, audio and other navigational tools will be available. A special opening reception and panel discussion will be held June 6, 5:30-8:30 pm featuring the exhibit curator and experts in the field of accessibility and the arts.
