Two mosaics accepted to Arts in Bloom show

Posted by:

I am excited to say that two of my mosaics will be showing in the annual juried Arts in Bloom show being held by the Hopkinton Center for the Arts. This year’s show was juried by Mim Brooks Fawcett, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Attleboro Museum.  One is a cityscape, entitled Venezia, from my Italy cityscape series.

New Cityscape of Venice

I just framed the latest mosaic in my Italy series in a lovely Italian molding.  Called Venezia, I used smalti and vitreous glass for the buildings, along with stained glass for the canal.  Beads provide some of the detail.  The piece measures 12.5 x12.5″ including the frame.

I used mostly stained glass on the sheep with millefiore for the eyes, nostrils, and paisley centers, and beads for the paisley outlines

Visitors to the site have expressed interest in my Boston Harbor mosaic, shown on the opening page of this website. Though that piece was sold, I recently finished a smaller version of the same view of Boston (looking across the harbor from the airport toward the Boston Harbor Hotel and surrounding area).  The smaller version is approximately 5″ high by 13″ wide and framed in an exquisite blue mottled and high gloss frame.  Called Mini Boston Harbor, it is a mixed ...

1 out of 40

Posted by:

I dropped off my photo in Lowell yesterday for the upcoming exhibit called Alienation.  I was told that the jurors only accepted 40 pieces for the show and only 8 from Massachusetts.  I am looking forward to the reception on September 10th at the Loading Dock Gallery.  The gallery is very nice.  It’s in one of the old mill buildings that have been refurbished into art studios.  Hope to see you at the show!
